The Grammy Awards were handed out to the owners in a grand ceremony in New York. Jay-Z, who was nominated in eight categories at the event hosted by comedian James Corden, returned empty-handed.
Bruno Mars marked the night by winning the ceremony's biggest "Album of the Year", "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year" awards. Kendrick Lamar won five awards on the night.
Female musicians took to the red carpet with white roses on their collars to support the "Time's Up" movement.
Rihanna was on the Grammy stage with live performances by Kesha, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar.
