The 88th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA, presented by renowned comedian Chris Rock.
The highly anticipated moment of the night was whether Leonardo DiCaprio,a five-time Oscar nominee, would win the award at the end of this year. The 41-year-old actor won best actor this time. DiCaprio'sbiggest supporter at the ceremony was his Titanic and Revolution Road co-star Kate Winslet. The pair walked the red carpet arm-in-arm.
The Revenant, which was nominated in 12 categories, won 3 awards on the night, including 'Best Director'. The film's director, Alejandro Inarritu, won best director for Birdman last year.
Brie Larson, a 26-year-old actress, won best actress for her role in Room, while 'Best Picture' Spotlightwas 'Best Supporting Actress' Alicia Vikander.
Mad Max won six Academy Awards in total.
