During the day hosted by Ece Sukan, there was also a fashion conversation with world-renowned influencer Tamara Kalinic under the title "Global Outlook". Under the title "Behind The Scenes", the guest of the first day was successful fashion photographer Emre Güven.
A total of 37 design brands and designers will exhibit their collections with 30 fashion shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul, which will continue until Friday, October 16th.
The 15th season of MBFWI has begun with the New Gen fashion show, which combines the collections of 6 talented young designers graduated from Istanbul Fashion Academy, one of the most competent fashion schools in Turkey. The collections of designers Aycan Hakalmaz, Ezgi Yildirim, Mehmet Demir, Selina Alp, Süreyya Suleymanoglu and Tanyeli Erdem under the theme of What If consist of a combination of designs, each of which they have constructed on their own keywords.
Designer Niyazi Erdogan attended MBFWI's first digital season with a collection and fashion show, all digitally produced. "While the issue of sustainability is still being discussed more on materials, I think it is production processes, labor and energy consumption that should be considered," the designer said, referring to his fashion show designed through the CLO 3D application, not only his collection, but also his architect identity and designed the virtual fashion show venue himself. Inspired by the Tatavla region, a cultural mosaic of Istanbul, the collection features comfortable silhouettes.
Designer Tuba Ergin describes the modern, powerful, sophisticated and feminine hero of the future, including transformation, the beginning of a new life, futurism and sustainability concepts in his collection, which is inspired by questions such as "Is extraterrestrial life possible?", "Will mankind be able to continue life on a new planet?" and called TERRAFORM. The collection mainly blends elegant silhouettes that represent power such as day-to-night dresses, voluminous quilted coats, worker's overalls with functional details.
Successful design brand Tuvanam closed the first day of MBFWI with its Spring/Summer 2021 collection fashion show. Inspired by currents arising from the combination of different ethnic cultures in the colonies of European colonists, the collection features influences from North African Tangiers, Marrakech, exotic Pacific Islands, Tahiti, Polonesia, South America, Brazil, Haiti and the Caribbean in colours, textures, styles and fabrics. The collection, which complemented tuvana Büyükçınar Demir's iconic classical forms with processing details, offered functional designs that can be continued from day to night in shades of white, ecru, tile red, blue, green and mustard.
