Angelina Jolie and Prad Pitt, who decided to pursue divorce proceedings in secrecy, said in a joint statement to the Associated Press (AP) news agency that they decided to keep the details of their divorce proceedings confidential with the help of a special judge.
"The parties and their lawyers have signed an agreement to resolve the issues quickly, instead of reserveing the right to privacy of their children and their families by keeping all court documents confidential and appointing a special judge to make legal decisions," the statement said. The couple also said they decided to work together to get their children through the divorce process and the family to get together on certain days.
The couple, who have been together for nearly 10 years, have six children, three of whom are biological and three of whom are adopted. Last September, allegations surfaced that Pitt had abused his 15-year-old son Maddox during a family private plane trip. Those charges against Pitt were dropped, officials said, noting that there was no evidence that the famous actor had verbally and physically abused his children.
